Buyers working out of Malaysia are usually not buying for Malaysia. Goods land at Port Klang or Tanjung Pelepas and move on to Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand or Vietnam, which means the order is a regional programme and the paperwork has a second leg. That is a different job from supplying a single-country retailer. Unitex Underwear (Xiamen Unitex Trade Co., Ltd.) supplies OEM underwear from audited partner factories in the Xiamen–Quanzhou–Jinjiang knitwear cluster in Fujian, China: MOQ 2,000 pieces per style and colour, sampling in 7–10 days, bulk in 45–60 days, FOB Xiamen.
A hub order is a consolidation problem first
A retailer buying for one country can order deep and narrow. A hub buyer cannot: the onward order is usually a spread of styles and colours across several destinations. So the first practical question is whether the supplier can build one shipment from many styles without turning each into its own minimum. That is how we quote hub programmes — the minimum sits per style and colour, and size breakdown inside that is free.
The documents have to survive the second leg
Where a hub shipment goes wrong is rarely at the first clearance. It goes wrong when the invoice, the packing list and the label no longer agree three months later, after a specification was quietly changed for one destination. We freeze the specification after approval and issue documents that match the label line for line, which is the only way a repeat order stays clean.
Origin documents decide the onward rate
ACFTA and RCEP rates on the onward leg depend on a Certificate of Origin, and that document is issued before departure — it cannot be produced retroactively once the goods have sailed. If the goods are re-exported from Malaysia or Singapore, the origin position for the second leg is a separate question, and one worth settling with your broker at the planning stage rather than at the port.
What we do not claim
Local import licensing differs between Malaysia and Singapore, and it changes. We do not assert a position on your licence or your labelling regime from this side of the water — that is your importer’s or broker’s call, and we would rather say so than be confidently wrong. What we can do is supply documents and artwork that give your broker what they need to make that call quickly.
Order terms
MOQ 2,000 pieces per style and colour; trial orders from 1,000 pieces on selected styles. Counter samples in 7–10 days, fully custom development 12–18 days, bulk 45–60 days after pre-production approval. FOB Xiamen, 30 % deposit and 70 % against copy of the bill of lading.
Next step
Send the styles, the size curve, the destinations the shipment will be split across, and the price band. We reply within 48 hours with a costed quotation built around the consolidation rather than a single-style container. Buyer checklist
- Confirm which country each style is actually sold in — the label and origin documents follow the destination, not the port of entry
- Check whether the second leg needs its own Certificate of Origin, and who applies for it
- Ask for consolidation across styles if the onward order is mixed; single-style containers rarely fit a hub programme
- Confirm local import licensing with your own broker — Malaysia and Singapore do not run the same regime
- Fix the specification after approval, so the documents for the onward shipment still match three months later
