Fujian is one of China’s principal knitwear regions, and underwear is what its knitwear industry does at the greatest depth. The province’s coastal corridor — Xiamen, Quanzhou, Jinjiang — has spent decades building a complete knitted-underwear supply chain: fabric knitting mills, elastic and waistband weavers, dyeing and finishing houses, printers, accessory suppliers, and a deep bench of cut-and-sew factories, all within a few hours of each other and of the container ports.
For an overseas buyer this concentration is not a trivia fact — it is what decides your development speed and your reorder reliability. When the fabric mill, the waistband weaver and the sewing line sit in the same province, counter samples move in days instead of weeks, lab dips and strike-offs get approved face to face, and a capacity problem at one factory can be absorbed by another without leaving the cluster. One point worth settling before the checklist: “Fujian underwear manufacturer” describes a production site, not necessarily the company you sign the contract with. Unitex is the company you sign with — production runs in our partner factories, which are named in your order file and covered by their own audit paperwork. If you would rather buy direct from a factory that is a legitimate choice; we would simply rather you knew which model you were choosing.
How to Evaluate a Fujian Underwear Supplier
Fujian has hundreds of underwear suppliers, and from the outside their websites look similar. The differences that matter show up in verification, and the checks are the same whether you choose a factory-direct offer or a sourcing company:
- Ask which audit covers the actual production site — a BSCI audit belongs to a specific factory, not to a brand name. Ask for the audit ID of the site your order would run in, and verify it in the amfori BSCI platform.
- Check the OEKO-TEX scope — Standard 100 certificates name the certificate holder and the product class. Ask for the certificate number and verify it on oeko-tex.com.
- Clarify who holds your specification — factory-direct means you manage the pattern, grading and measurement chart yourself; a sourcing company holds them for you across factories. Neither is wrong — but know which contract you are signing.
- Request the measurement chart and QC standard in writing — a graded size chart locked at pre-production sample, and a named AQL level (ours is AQL 2.5, inline plus final) are the minimum a professional programme should commit to paper.
- Test responsiveness before the order — send a real spec sheet. The quality of the questions that come back in 48 hours tells you more than any catalogue.

Buyer checklist
- Ask which province and which city the fabric is knitted in, not only where the garment is cut and sewn — the corridor advantage depends on both being in Fujian.
- Ask for the factory name and the site's audit position, since a Fujian listing does not by itself mean a Fujian line.
- Confirm whether the supplier owns the line or coordinates partner factories, and treat the answer as a difference in model rather than in quality.
- Test the corridor claim with the sample clock: counter samples from stock fabric should return in 7 to 10 days.
- Compare quotations on the same trade term, because FOB and a delivered price measure different things.
- Verify certificate numbers on the issuing body's database rather than accepting a logo on a page.
