Comfort & Print Placement on Minimal Cuts
For thongs, gusset construction and waistband softness are the comfort drivers, and print placement matters more than on any other cut. We approve print strike-offs on the actual thong pattern — not a flat swatch — so the design survives the cut.
Thong and G-string are not the same block: back strap width and front panel shape differ, and each needs its own pattern. We agree back strap width and waistband softness at the pre-production sample, because an over-tight back strap is the main comfort complaint in the category.
All-over prints are engineered around the cut: motifs are placed on the actual pattern so the design holds together across both the front panel and the narrow back.
Unitex runs its own liaison office in Jinjiang, on the ground inside the Fujian knitwear cluster, handling order follow-up, QC and factory audits. Buyer checklist
- Confirm the gusset construction and its attachment stitch, since it carries the comfort on a minimal cut
- Specify waistband softness with the elastic quality, not as a factory default
- Approve print strike-offs on the actual thong pattern, because a flat swatch does not show how the design survives the cut
- Check that the print lands correctly after the cut, not only on the roll
- Ask for a small-size and a large-size sample, since thongs fail at the extremes before they fail in the middle
- Verify the cotton gusset is standard on every colourway, including fashion styles
