Zero Side Seam: The Ultimate Comfort for Men’s 100% Cotton Undershirts (Vest & T-Shirt)
- By:Teresa Zhang
- Date:2026/04/06
Let’s be honest – most undershirts annoy you where you least expect it: the side seams. Those two vertical stitches running from your armpit down to the hem rub against your skin all day, create red marks, and often show through your dress shirt. For buyers sourcing for Europe or South America, side seams also mean one more thing: a potential quality complaint that turns into returned shipments.
Xiamen Unitex Trade Co., Ltd. eliminates the problem completely. Our zero-side-seam 100% cotton undershirts (available as a vest and a short-sleeve T-shirt) are knitted seamlessly from armpit to hem – no stitches, no irritation, no visible lines. Shoulders and hems are sewn for structure, and the entire garment uses the same 100% cotton fabric (single jersey or rib knit), 160-200GSM, 0% spandex. We deliver consistent quality with a 90day production lead time (excluding sea freight) – realistic for bulk manufacturing. Sampling takes 10-12 days.
In this guide, we break down why sideseamless matters, how our construction works, fabric options, fit differences for each market, and a straightforward sourcing process.

H2: 1. What Makes “Zero Side Seam” Different?
Traditional undershirts are cut from fabric panels and then sewn together along the sides. Those side seams create four problems:
1. Friction – Constant rubbing against skin and outer clothing.
2. Visible lines – Seam ridges show through thin or lightcolored shirts.
3. Weak points – Stitches can break, fray, or curl after repeated washing.
4. Inconsistent feel – Some brands use cheaper fabric on side panels.
Our zero-side-seam undershirts are knitted in one piece on seamless knitting machines (Santoni and equivalent). The side area from armpit to hem is a continuous fabric structure – no thread, no needle, no seam.

Both styles share the same zerosideseam body. The difference is in armhole and sleeve treatment.

Why 1x1 rib for vest armholes? The armhole on a vest directly contacts the armpit. Using 1x1 rib provides natural stretch, soft edges, and prevents the fabric from curling or digging in – essential for all-day comfort.

H2: 3. The Tangible Benefits of ZeroSideSeam (For Your Customers)
When you switch to our seamlessside undershirts, your endusers will notice:
· Zero friction – No more red marks or itching along the ribs.
· Invisible under any shirt – Perfect for white dress shirts, thin knits, or uniforms.
· Longer garment life – No side seams to unravel or weaken. The knitted side area lasts as long as the rest of the fabric.
· Consistent quality – We eliminate two major sewing operations, so there are fewer defects (no crooked seams, skipped stitches, or thread tension issues).
· Premium perception – Seamless side construction is still rare in basic undershirts. It signals higher quality and attention to detail.
H2: 4. Fabric Options: 100% Cotton, 160200GSM
We offer two pure cotton knitted structures – both without any spandex.

H2: 6. Production Lead Time: 90 Days (Excluding Sea Freight)
Unlike suppliers who promise unrealistic timelines and miss every deadline, we are transparent. Our standard production lead time is 90 days from order confirmation to factory completion (excluding sea freight). Sea freight time varies by destination and port conditions, so we do not include it in our commitment.
Sampling time: 10-12 days – from request to sample delivery.
Production breakdown (90 days):
· Fabric yarn procurement & knitting – 20 days
· Dyeing / finishing – 15 days
· Cutting & seamless knitting – 15 days
· Sewing (shoulders, hems, etc.) – 20 days
· Quality inspection (AQL 2.5) & packing – 20 days
Total production: 90 days – realistic, reliable, and proven with hundreds of containers to Brazil, Spain, Colombia, and Germany. Sea freight (typically 3045 days to Europe/South America) is arranged separately.
H2: 7. How to Order – 7 Step Process (HowTo)
Step 1 – Choose product mix: Vest only / Tshirt only / both.
Step 2 – Select fabric & GSM: Single jersey (160180) or rib (180200). Pick color.
Step 3 – Define fit & size: Europe slim, South America relaxed, or custom. Provide size range (SXXL).
Step 4 – Confirm construction details: Shoulder stitch type, hem finish, 1x1 rib specs for collar (and armhole for vest).
Step 5 – Sampling: We produce 35 samples per style. Sampling time: 10-15 days. You evaluate: side smoothness, rib comfort, collar elasticity, shrinkage after wash.
Step 6 – Compliance: OEKOTEX Standard 100 (Class II for direct skin), BSCI Grade B report, EU DPP QR if needed.
Step 7 – Bulk production & shipment: Approve PP sample (sealed). Production starts (90 days). MOQ: 1,500 pieces per style per color (vest and Tshirt of same fabric/color can be mixed). Ship by sea – we help arrange freight, but sea time is not included in the 90 days.
H2: 8. FAQ
Q1: Is the side truly 100% seamless? Can it split open?
Yes – it is knitted continuously on seamless machines, not sewn. The side area is as strong as the front fabric. We have shipped over 500,000 units with zero sideseam failures.
Q2: Why 90 days production? Other suppliers say 45 days.
45 days is unrealistic for 100% cotton, customdyed, seamlessside undershirts. 90 days includes yarn procurement, knitting, dyeing, sewing, inspection, and a builtin buffer for quality control. We deliver on time – no excuses.
Q3: How long is sampling?
10-15 days from request to sample delivery. We prioritize sample accuracy so you can evaluate fit, fabric, and construction before bulk production.
Q4: No spandex – will it lose shape after washing?
We use highquality combed cotton and preshrinking (compressive shrinkage). Tested per GB/T 8629: jersey ≤ ±4%, rib ≤ ±3%. With normal care, the garment maintains its fit for 12 years.
Q5: Do you provide OEKO-TEX and BSCI?
Yes. Valid OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (Class I & II) and BSCI Grade B. Copies are included with every shipment – mandatory for EU.
Q6: Can I combine vests and T-shirts to reach MOQ?
Yes – same fabric and same color. For example, 800 vests + 700 Tshirts = 1,500 pieces total. Contact Teresa Zhang to confirm.
Q7: Do you include sea freight in the 90 days?
No. 90 days is production only. Sea freight time (typically 3045 days to Europe/South America) depends on shipping lines, port congestion, and customs. We help arrange freight, but we do not guarantee sea transit times.
